Tri-State Memorial Hospital & Medical Campus has Gained a 4-Star Rating with Hospital Compare
January 30, 2020 - Tri-State Memorial Hospital & Medical Campus has Gained a 4-Star Rating with Hospital Compare, a consumer-oriented website that provides information on how well hospitals provide recommended care to their patients. The most common overall hospital rating is 3-Stars.
Hospital Compare is part of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Quality Initiative. The Hospital Quality Initiative uses a variety of tools to help hospitals improve the quality of care they deliver. The aim is to help improve hospitals’ quality of care through easy to understand data on hospital performance, and quality information from patient perspectives. Hospital Compare offers overall hospital ratings and provides a starting point for comparing a hospital to others locally and nationwide. Along with the overall hospital rating, Hospital Compare includes information on many vital aspects of quality, such as rates of infection and complications, and patients’ experiences, based on survey results.
“This is a great achievement, and we push ourselves each day to go the extra mile in caring for every patient,” said Donald Wee, CEO of Tri-State Memorial Hospital & Medical Campus. “Every person in our health system realizes that quality and excellence are achieved by continually striving to reach the highest standards every step of the way.”
Tri-State Memorial Hospital has continuously received its overall 4-Star rating in Patient Experience for the past two years. Patient Experience includes that the hospital’s nurses and doctors “Always communicated well” and that the majority patients reported that they “Always received help as soon as they wanted it.” This ranking in Patient Experience is one of many contributions to the overall increase in star ratings from the hospital's previous overall 3-Star rating. Other initiatives that set Tri-State Memorial Hospital as a lead performer include The Responsiveness of Hospital Staff, Overall Communication, and Cleanliness of Hospital Environment.
“Each Tri-State team member plays a part in this advancement,” said Kim Pospychalla, Director of Quality, for Tri-State Memorial Hospital & Medical Campus. “We are always striving for excellence in every area, and these ratings recognize our dedication and continuous efforts to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and their families.”
