Tri-State Rheumatology Clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment for diseases that affect the body’s connective tissue. Diagnosis and treatment includes systemic autoimmune conditions; these conditions affect the joints, muscles, and bones causing pain, swelling, stiffness, and deformity.
Tri-State Rheumatology Clinic includes a state of the art infusion therapy area. Infusion therapy is a non-oral way to administer treatment for a wide assortment of conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. Afzal has extensive training in the treatment of arthritis, inflammatory diseases, and advanced areas of rheumatology, providing diagnosis and management for diverse patient populations. Dr. Afzal attended King Edward Medical College in Pakistan and received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2003. He then studied Internal Medicine as an intern at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, TX, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He continued his training as a Fellow in Rheumatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Afzal is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Geni Evans, NP-C joined Tri-State Rheumatology in October 2018. Geni has worked as a registered nurse in the LC Valley since 1984. She also taught nursing at Lewis-Clark State College for seven years. Geni received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lewis-Clark State College, Master of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University, and her Family Nurse Practitioner Post Graduate Certificate from Gonzaga University. She was most recently with Clearwater Medical Clinic working in Family Practice for the past 8 years. She completed certification in Advanced Rheumatology in 2011 through the American College of Rheumatology. She is currently accepting new referral patients and is excited to see patients to help with managing inflammatory diseases including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Lupus, and Gout.
